Apples addition

Ok, I confess! I may have an addition, but a good addition. Guys, in one month I ate two large bags of apples! lol But hey, is not just apples, they are fresh apples from the Orchard that I handly picked! Crisp, fresh and delicious... everything that you are looking for when you eat an apple.
But let's rewind, some weeks ago on that lab trip, we went to pick apples in a Orchard at Charlottesville, in our way back home. What an fantastic experience! You pick the apples, you enjoy the nature (and the poison ivy! lol), you eat one apple or two in between ahah, you have apple cider, apple cider donuts, apple butter and everything related with apples :) There is so many varieties of apples... is very interesting! I picked the ones called winesnap, jonagold (?) and granny smith. Funny fact: I don't find here in US the variety 'reineta' and 'bravo esmolfe', and they are my favorite for being so different!
I need to go again and fill a couple of bags. lol

|soblushed| at VCU

September means back to school, right? So, what about some photos at the Virginia Commonwealth University campus? My album was asking for some photos here! eheh My lab is at the medical campus (boring!) but the Monroe Campus is so much fun... a lot of students running around, with their bikes and skates... very stylish people, nice places to hang out, the student commons,...
You may be wondering about the horns.. but is the symbol of our basketball team, GO RAMS! :)

|soblushed| at Carytown

Another collection of photos for my album, this time the background is the lovely Carytown! 10 blocks of cute and lovely stores, boutiques, coffe shops, restaurants.. definitely with a european twist :) Carytown is the place for nice events and festivals such as the watermelon festival, food and wine festival, french film festival... Is the perfect place for a frozen yogurt and a movie at the end of the day. Carytown has also a couple of grocery stores in which Elwood Thompson is my favorite one. It's a really cool this local organic food market.

|soblushed| at the river

I’m not a beach person, as some may know (although my hometown is 15min by car) but living in a city that is far from one is painful, specially in the summer! I really miss the sea but I've got here the James River, my perfect place for long walks, landscape seeing...and ice cream eating ahahahah (There is always a cart of water-based ice cream called soul ice). It is definitely a top 5 Richmond’s sightseeing. Love it!

|soblushed| at the festivals

To hang out with my friends I definitely choose Richmond festivals: cool people, cute dogs, funnel cakes (similar to ‘farturas’), corndogs (hot dog sausage coated in a thick layer of cornmeal batter and deep fried in oil), beer (oh yes! I don’t like its gas and its bitter taste but here I have a lot of options...I’m starting to like beer…) Everything together just makes a perfect day!

Oh, I'll miss those festivals badly!

|soblushed| album

Hey guys! I need to share something with you!

I have one year left here in Richmond. This adventure is getting to an end. Tu ru. Well, I guess I’m going to miss a lot of things here but at the same time I miss my Portugal and my people so badly, so I think it is time to go!
I still have one year, so this journey is not over yet! :) For the next 12 months I’ll show you 12 places from Richmond that I'm going to miss…surely! I've also another surprise for you: I'll be on the other side of the camera!
Stay tuned ;)
