Yes, dɪˈsembə(r) is December! ;) 

I know that is not finished yet, but the next 8 days will be the holiday season, and that is pretty special.

Thank you December for:

• Getting me all the presents in time
• Giving me pleasant days, without snow* (that way I think I won't have huge problems with my flight to Portugal)
• Filling the city with parades, lights and joy
• Showing me that peppermint is not just for tea
• Bringing the Secret Santa (Xtmas friends, I prefer!)
• Remembering me that the animals are super awesome and they could be very human (and vice versa lol)

*please December, ask your neighbor January for some snow. Please, please! It's always so fun! and I want to take more pictures :D

fuzzy!

I miss my cat & dog! :( I don’t have any pets here; it’s a sad studio. Booo! Well, I have the squirrels outside, sometimes friendly, sometimes crazy and out of their minds! Lol

Last weekend I went to the zoo (Chesterfield county) with the photography group from Richmond, and as you can imagine, it was awesome! Animals have that sweet look that always makes us smile (is it? or is the thought that I'll be in Portugal in about 3 days?! Hehe).

This zoo isn’t that big.. but It’s always cool to say hi to the animals wherever they are! Every time I go to a zoo, what I really want to see are the fuzzy ones: the primates, the cats, the lemurs… :D they are so funny and cute.

I took a lot of pictures so I decided to show them in several posts. First, the Teddys. ;)

Xtmas delights

Do you want to know more about American Christmas traditions?

Well, they have the trees and Poinsettias flowers (red flowers) everywhere, the lights, the santa claus and the reindeer (and Rudolph with his red nose, of course!), oh! And the ice skating rings! ;)

They have the mistletoe (a plant), right? If you pay attention, all the Christmas songs have this word.  Lol So, according to ancient Christmas custom, a man and a woman who meet under a hanging of mistletoe were obliged to kiss. Uuuu!

About the gifts, this is something quite different from Portugal. So, here Santa Claus visit the homes at night while children are sleeping, which means that the presents are just opened in the morning of Christmas day. Booo! Children usually leave a glass of milk and plate of Christmas sugar cookies for Santa Claus nearby the fireplace and a carrot or oats for the reindeer.

In terms of food, it seems that Americans usually have the turkey (or goose, perhaps) for the Christmas Evening… Nothing to add.

For this post I’m more interested in have your attention in Xtmas delights! And I have to warn you right now: the kings for the holiday season are definitely the peppermint and ginger! hehe

curiosos com o passatempo?

Vamos então fazer batota e desembrulhar as prendinhas? Continuamos sem saber quem vai ganhar as gifts e por isso o suspense continua no ar :) Dia 22 de Dezembro resolve-se isso!
Portanto o random.org irá escolher o grande vencedor! E o 1º prémio será:

• um livro super inspirador! O conceito do livro é levar o leitor a fazer algo diferente todos os dias durante um ano. É um livro que te ajuda a descobrir a tua obsessão e ser criativo! Podes anotar ideias, esboçar e tens montes de ideias para desenvolver o teu projecto!

 

PS: Só pra dizer que o autor do livro é um artista/designer super fixe daqui de Richmond, VA. Em 2007, ele teve uma brilhante ideia: “I’m making a skull image every day for a year.” 

• Um ultra-moisturizing hand and body cream da Victoria’s Secret. Delicioso! (sorry boys! Não existe ainda John’s Secret :S) 

• E uns chocolatinhos (só porque são diferentes e possivelmente não encontram em PT).
