Broad Appétit

Broad appétit is the best food festival here in Richmond. on the past Sunday, June 3rd,62 Richmond restaurants set up tents along four-block stretch of West Broad Street to showcase their goodies. You could have a chance to sample their signature dishes or a desert for only $3, with some local beers and wines. It was really amazing! I tried a grilled salmon with spring rice, spinach and chèvre @ ‘La Parisienne’; a crab salad roll @Culinard School and Rum cake for desert @Mama J’s cuisine.

The mission of Broad Appétit is to provide an affordable and enjoyable local food festival, socially responsible and regionally appealing. The Broad Appétit promotes amazing food, art, and music which makes Richmond a great place to live and visit.

Blueberry muffins

A new series is starting here on soblushed! I am the real tourist, as you may notice: I’m obsessed with places to visit, events to go to and delights to eat. So to complete  all this fantastic experience, this blog needs some American goodies!

What about some muffins? Blueberry muffins are my favorite alongside with the  orange and cranberries ones. Hum…Blueberry muffins are really American, don't you think? Did you know that the official state for these type of muffins is Minnesota? And the apple muffin is official from New York. (I wonder if there are some conflicts between states like the ones in Portugal: Where is the "capital da Chafana"? Vila Nova de Poiares ou  Miranda do Corvo?)

The muffins are usually jumbo size, maybe to compete with the fancy cupcakes, their cousins. Ahah

So lets eat, even if it’s only with your eyes :D

And May came to an end... oh! What a sweet month! The festivals already start here in Richmond, and you know what that means, right? Music, funnel cake and lemonade, people and cute dogs :D eheh
This month I pushed myself up to another level in terms of photography: I had 5 different assignments and I finished this 31-day photography challenge, proposed by expertphotography. I hope you like them! (I posted all the photos on soblushed facebook page. Don't miss a bit, give it a like!)
June will be very exciting actually!! I'm going to San Francisco for a conference (for fun!)! soblushed at the west coast! oh yeah ;)

And for the final assignment the theme was: ... sweet light! Sweet light is the light at daybreak and at dusk – the beautiful light that highlights the detail, yet doesn’t overwhelm you with harshness. So I went for a walk around my neighborhood and took some photos, using a small aperture in order to give me sharpness all the way down. I hope you like them!
